In 1983, I moved to my wife's village, Sainte-Gemme-en-Sancerre, where we built up our domaine from scratch. Domaine des Clairneaux has continued to grow for nearly 30 years. In 1998, I took over the Montbenoit vineyards in the Coteaux du Giennois, plots that my father had worked for many years. Today nearly we work 19 hectares with great care and dedication to produce outstanding quality wines.
The vineyards are made up as follows:
Sancerre (Domaine des Clairneaux): 8.5 hectares
Coteaux du Giennois (Domaine de Montbenoit): 10.5 hectares.
In 2012, our eldest son, Clément, joined the business having spent 2 years in Canada and the USA as cellar master. He is now handling the marketing of our wines. Our younger son, Florian, honed his talents as winemaker in French vineyards and abroad. Have spent 1 year working with Burgundy Grands Crus, he went to New Zealand and the USA for a few months to explore techniques and approaches taken in winemaking, at the other end of world.
After 30 years, the baton is now being taken up, but our exacting requirements remain the same. Created from a blend of knowledge, intuition, emotions, doubts and a little luck, our wine has only one ambition - to bring you drinking enjoyment.
